A SHOWCASE OF HYDE PARK'S
DIVERSE CULTURAL OFFERINGS

A FREE TROLLEY SYSTEM will link 30 neighborhood arts institutions at the Hyde Park - University of Chicago Arts Fest, Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6. Visitors can take in a live performance or film, see ancient sculptures or contemporary photography--then hop on the trolley and try something completely different.

THE FESTIVAL INCLUDES the 57th Street Art Fair, the oldest juried art fair in the Midwest, and the Community Art Fair, which features work by local artists. Hyde Park's wide array of year-round cultural institutions will also be showcased at this extraordinary community event. The weekend also coincides with the University of Chicago's Alumni Weekend.

ADMISSION IS FREE at many of the museums and galleries and some institutions will offer special programming for children and families.

PARK FOR FREE at the University of Chicago and take the trolley around the neighborhood. The trolley will also serve as a guided tour to Hyde Park's many historic sites and architectural treasures. Trolleys run every 20 to 25 minutes from 10am to 5pm.

ARTS FEST HEADQUARTERS for 2004 will be at the David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art at the corner of Greenwood Avenue and 56th Street. Stop by, check out activities throughout the weekend, and then expolore the neighborhood and its arts organizations on a free Arts Fest trolley.

A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT by 30 cultural institutions, the Hyde Park - University of Chicago Arts Fest is sponsored by the University of Chicago, with additional support and assistance from neighborhood aldermen and the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce.
